For Jazz Friday, Rich Abrahams Performs Feb. 5 at Foosaner’s Harris Auditorium

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Institute of Technology’s Foosaner Art Museum presents jazz pianist Rich Abrahams from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, in the Harris Community Auditorium for the monthly Jazz Friday concert.

Jazz Fridays are held in conjunction with the Eau Gallie Arts District’s First Friday Art Walk.

Joining Abrahams will be Syl Lafata on clarinet, Ernie Wilson on bass, Fred Goodnight on drums and special guest Mark Shepard on vibraphone.

Admission to the Jazz Friday concert is free, and galleries at the museum and the nearby Renee Foosaner Education Center will be open until 7:30 p.m. The museum’s current exhibit is Caminos Transitados/Paths Taken: A Retrospective of Francisco Gordillo Arredondo Baba Oñi. Beer, wine and soft drinks will be available for purchase.

The education center will host a special event Friday, as well. “First Friday Raku” will offer an artistic experience that is fast, furious and exciting for anyone who has bisque-fired pots suitable for this technique. Participants will glaze and then participate in the firing of their pieces. Space is limited.

Cost is $65 per person for Foosaner members and $75 for non-members, or $40 for Foosaner members who are also Florida Tech students and $50 for non-member students. The fees allows each participant to fire three to four moderately sized pieces (no larger than 6” diameter and 12” tall) and includes glazes, instruction and firing.
