Florida Tech Evans Library Showcases Engineering Faculty Research, Starting Oct. 24

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Institute of Technology’s Evans Library will present to the public the College of Engineering Research Showcase starting Oct. 24 in the main floor lobby. The exhibit displays the interdisciplinary efforts of the college, including work from engineering systems, mechanical and aerospace engineering, marine and environmental systems, computer sciences, electrical and computer engineering, chemical engineering and civil engineering faculty. The showcase is free and open to the public during regular library hours.

Library visitors will discover leading-edge engineering developments by touring the colorful exhibits, which are organized by multidisciplinary themes: Sustainability of the Environment, Intelligent Systems, Assured Information and Cyber Security, New Space Systems and Commercialization of Space; and Communication Systems and Signal Processing.

Project examples include Harvesting Ocean Wave Energy, Indian River Lagoon MUCK, Hurricane Risk Management, Spontaneous Voice-Driven Interaction with Avatars, Liquid Behavior in Zero Gravity, Georeferencing Motion Imagery and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles.

This is the third in a series of college research showcases presented by the library, which previously displayed the work of the College of Science and the Nathan M. Bisk College of Business. Future exhibits will be planned for the College of Aeronautics and the College of Psychology and Liberal Arts.

The College of Engineering exhibit will continue at least through the end of the semester, until early December. Regular, non-holiday library hours are Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-midnight; Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m.-midnight.
