Foosaner Art Museum Presents The Winston Scott Jazz Ensemble Oct. 4; Free at First Friday Art Walk

MELBOURNE , FLA.—The Foosaner Art Museum, Florida Institute of Technology, presents The Winston Scott Ensemble Oct. 4, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The concert will be during the Eau Gallie Art District’s First Friday Art Walk. Jazz Fridays are always the first Friday of each month, same time, same place. Admission is free.

The ensemble consists of Ron Teixeira on piano, Stan Soloko on drums, Al Dodds on bass, Winston Scott on trumpet, and vocals by Shryl “Tandy” Johnson. Capt. Scott is also Florida Tech senior vice president for external relations and economic development.

On view through Oct. 13 is The Art of Conservation(ism): Works from the Permanent Collection. The exhibition features artists whose work addresses environmental issues as well as the care museums take of their collections. The museum holds a significant number of prints by Indiana sand dune etcher Earl H. Reed and black and white nature photographs by Clyde Butcher.

The Foosaner Art Museum is located at 1463 Highland Ave. in the Eau Gallie Arts District of Melbourne; Phone: (321) 674-8916. The hours are Tuesday -Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.; and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays are free all day. Admission for adults is $5; seniors, children and students with I.D. are $2; free for Museum members and staff, faculty and students of Florida Tech.
