Florida Tech Summer Camp Offers Participants Engineering Math and Science Skills

MELBOURNE, FLA. — The Florida Tech Department of Civil Engineering presents F.A.M.E. 2008, Focus on Applying Mathematics in Engineering. This preparatory
camp, which runs July 7-11, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., will give a boost to students in grades 10 through 12 who are interested in an engineering career.

The camp teaches the scientific principles behind a variety of engineering projects in aerospace, chemical, civil and mechanical engineering, and
engineering economics. Students will conduct laboratory experiments, work with tools, such as spreadsheets, and also learn the mathematics necessary for
solving engineering problems.

A typical project will introduce students to the engineering problem. Students will review necessary mathematical and scientific principles, conduct
laboratory experiments to understand the scientific principles, then complete the project by using engineering tools.
