Alumni: From the Desk of Bino Campanini

#ParticipationMatters

Now is the time to get involved!

On Dec. 1, you have an opportunity to be part of a national movement and, together with other alumni, make a positive impact on your alma mater. By participating in Florida Tech’s Day of Giving, you will join alumni from around the world and make a difference in the lives of our students and faculty while demonstrating your support for your school and its future. Make no mistake, the participation of alumni and their financial support of their institution is a key factor in how organizations, including U.S. News & World Report, perceive the success of an institution and how they ultimately rank it.

The key point here is participation. It is the number of alumni who give back that is judged and not the amount that is given. All alumni can play a role and no gift is too small. So join me and let’s show U.S. News & World Report, and all the other organizations that review higher educational institutions, that we are proud of our alma mater. As students, we were part of Florida Tech’s past, but as alumni we remain part of its present and part of its future.

GET READY FOR HOMECOMING 2015

Book your flights or pack up the car and make your plans to come to back to campus for Homecoming 2015. For many of you, the weather in November will be making a turn for the worst, while here in Melbourne it will be an idyllic 70/80’s. But it is not just the weather that is on offer. As always we have a great few days filled with fun activities and Panther Pride.

We are excited that national recording artist and Indie darlings, Matt and Kim, will headline FIT Homecoming Fest. It is going to be one of the liveliest and most fun packed concerts that we have hosted and we once again expect to fill the streets of downtown Melbourne with our students and alumni.

Probably the biggest news that has hit campus in recent years was the announcement that Buzz Aldrin will be joining our research faculty. The interest and feedback from alumni on our social media has been amazing. There is something about space that still excites and inspires. Following in Buzz Aldrin’s footsteps is, NASA astronaut Sunita Williams, our 2015 Jerome P. Keuper Distinguished Alumni Award winner. I hope many of you will be able to join us at our Homecoming Gala as we salute Sunita and celebrate her achievements.
