Florida Tech Business Ethics Conference Set for April 17

MELBOURNE, FLA.–The Florida Tech College of Business Center for Ethics and Leadership will host its Seventh Annual Business Ethics Conference, “Ethics and
Immigration Issues,” on Tuesday, April 17. It will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Harris Corp. headquarters, Phillip W. Farmer Customer Briefing
Center, in Melbourne.
Eugene Cavallucci, Esq., vice president, general counsel of Harris Corp., will make introductions.
The keynote speaker will be Emilio T. Gonzalez, director, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, Department of Homeland Security. He leads an
organization of more than 15,000 federal and contract employees responsible for processing immigration benefits.
Most recently, Gonzalez was with the Miami-based international law firm of Tew Cardenas. Before that, Gonzalez was director for Western Hemisphere Affairs
at the National Security Council, Washington, D.C. In this capacity he served as a key national security and foreign policy adviser to President George W.
Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
After his talk there will be a questions and answers session, followed by an advocacy panel on the legal and ethical issues of immigration, moderated by
Gene Hernandez, Esq., of the law firm of Holland and Knight.
Cavallucci will moderate a noon panel on perspectives on immigration. Among the panelists will be Gonzalez; Hernandez; Michael Means, president and CEO of
Health First Inc.; and Richard DiPatri, superintendent of Brevard County Schools.
An afternoon panel on legal, ethical and economic applications will be moderated by Isabella Bunn, associate director of the Oxford Centre for Christianity
and Culture and a Florida Tech faculty member. Panel members will include Ann Kendrick, Office of Farm Worker Ministry, and Richard Logue, Department of
Immigration and Refugee Services, Diocese of Orlando; David Isinardi, Silent Majority of Florida; and Alberta Wilson, a member of the Board of Trustees of
the Brevard Community College.
Cost of the conference is $100 in advance and $125 the day of the event. There is no cost to Florida Tech students who register and present student I.D.
before April 16.
