Data, data, as far as the eye can see: the expanding horizons of Open Source Data

As a research-intensive university with its roots in the sciences and technology, data acts as the foundation of our efforts to expand the scope of knowledge.  Increasingly, data pertaining to a tremendous range of subject areas is freely available to all who might choose to use it, whether they belong to the academic community or the general public.  This talk will address some of the reasons behind the growth of open source data and provide examples of online sites providing such data.
