Florida Tech Team Takes Second Place in International Meet

– The Florida Tech chapter of the Society for Advancement of Management (SAM) team took second place in the SAM International Case Competition, held April
3-6 in Las Vegas. The competition was part of the annual SAM International Business Conference.

The Florida Tech team was one of 31 teams competing in two divisions. “Initially, our team tied for first, but the judges were required to deliberate and
name first and second place teams,” said Dr. Michael Slotkin, Florida Tech associate professor of business, and the team’s faculty advisor.

Team members were business majors Priscilla Arteaga, Eryck Dzotsi, Rachel Hartos and Josh Manning.

The teams’ challenge was a Harvard Business School-type case study, which involved an AOL-Time Warner case. Each team had 15 minutes to present a complete
analysis of the case and make policy recommendations. This was followed by a 10-minute question and answer session with the judging panel.

The Florida Tech College of Business offers bachelor’s degrees in accounting, business administration, business and
environmental studies, information systems in business and management information systems as well as the master’s of business administration (M.B.A.)
degree.
