Florida Tech Donates 4,000 Pounds of Food to Daily Bread

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Institute of Technology recently completed a successful, student-led campaign to feed the hungry at Daily Bread in downtown Melbourne. The donated food items were collected and displayed Nov. 7 through Dec. 2 in the Panther Dining Hall lobby on the Florida Tech campus.

The Campus-wide Feed the Hungry Campaign collected approximately 4,000 pounds of non-perishable food items donated by students, faculty and staff. The campus community left food donations in red barrels placed around campus or made cash or other donations at university dining venues.

“The entire campus community was extremely generous with campaign contributions,” said Gianella Fuentes, Feed the Hungry campaign coordinator and junior majoring in computer sciences. “The donated food will go a long way to provide a meal during this holiday season,” she added.

Donated food was delivered to Daily Bread on Dec. 2.
