Florida Tech Receives Generous Life Insurance Gift from Lois Anne Kennedy
Florida Institute of Technology was honored recently to receive a generous gift of over $30,000 from a life insurance policy Indialantic resident Lois Anne Kennedy established several years ago.
For 30 years, Kennedy was a successful insurance agent in the community. Though not a graduate of Florida Tech, she had a strong appreciation for the university’s impact in the region and wanted to help ensure, through her gift, that impact would remain and grow.
Florida Tech President T. Dwayne McCay hosted members of the family on campus and shared with Ms. Kennedy’s granddaughters how this gift will support the mission of the university and in particular women in science and technology. “Talented men and women at Florida Tech will change the world through technology, and we are greatly honored by Lois Anne’s commitment to making that happen,” McCay said.
Life partner Charles Bollinger (Florida Tech ’68 BS EE) told the group, “Lois Anne was the epitome of optimism and, like Florida Tech, had an endless thirst for knowledge. Her generous support of the university will allow future students to experience high-quality education, which she truly valued.”
Dale Dettmer, a member of the Florida Tech Board of Trustees, added that, “It is wonderful and inspiring to receive such a generous gift by someone who was not an alum of FIT and yet so greatly valued our mission.”
