Dr. Carstens Addresses SCI Conference

Deborah Carstens, Ph.D., assistant professor of management, presented a paper entitled “The Technology Gap in Patient Safety” at the 8th World
Multi-Conference on Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics (SCI) held in Orlando July 18 through July 21. Dr. Carstens’ co-authors were A. T.
Hollingsworth, Ph.D. and dean of the School of Management; Judith Barlow, Ph.D., associate professor of management information systems; LuAnn Bean, Ph.D.,
professor of accounting; David Hott, Ph.D., associate professor of management; and Barbara Pierce, Ph.D., associate professor of accounting and associate
dean of the School of Management. The purpose of the conference was to promote discussion and interaction between researchers and practitioners focused on
disciplines as well as different areas. Participants from academies, governments and industries shared ideas and experiences. They were especially
interested in fostering the exchange of concepts, prototypes, research ideas and other results which could contribute to the academic arena and also
benefit business and the industrial community.
