MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Institute of Technology Online Learning and Evans Library Plan a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) focused on finding, evaluating, documenting and using scholarly information in academic research. The non-credit, six-week class will be offered in summer 2014.
The course will be made available on the Canvas Network, https://www.canvas.net, which provides hosting, enrollment services, instructional design and technical support, and marketing promotion. The course will be available to self-enrolled students located anywhere in the world.
The course will be cost-free and asynchronous, with instructor-monitored discussion boards and communication via email. Six course modules will each include a video lecture, textual transcript, complementary multimedia, discussion boards and an assessment. Content will be designed to correlate with common practices, which allows students to understand research strategies from a familiar perspective.
