A passion for space science

When you talk to Florida Tech faculty and students there is one thing that really shines through: their passion for the work they’re doing.

As part of World Space Week, we talked to a student and professor who truly love space science to see what got them interested in the field, what they’re excited to be working on, and where they see the future of their research heading.

Veronique Petit is an assistant professor in the Physics and Space Sciences department. She primarily studies stellar astrophysics and massive star magnetospheres, and was recently awarded time on the Hubble Space Telescope to study a massive magnetic star.

Casandra Tyson is a senior majoring in astrophysics and astronomy. As a member of the Florida Tech ROTC program, she will be commissioned as an officer in the Army when she graduates in December.
