MELBOURNE, FLA. — It’s baaack! Treat or Treat, Florida Tech’s community Halloween event that draws thousands each year, will offer its creative haunted houses, buckets of candy, costume contests , trick or treating and more on the university’s Melbourne campus from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25.
The free public event takes place on the Residence Hall Quad along Country Club Road (just south of the tennis courts) and at the nearby Panther Plaza, in front of the Denius Student Center. Here’s a campus map of the key areas.
Last year’s Treat or Treat drew more than 2,700 attendees.
Starting at 2 p.m. on the Quad, five residence halls that have been creatively converted into themed haunted houses will open to guests. Other activities are scheduled to include a trick or treating area, costume contests, inflatables, games and a crafting center.
Each of the haunted houses offers a different degree of fright:
- Shaw Hall: Adventure is UP There, scare level 0
Description: Join us on an adventure through the skies! Imagine a house lighter than air as we take to the skies with a bouquet of balloons to find our lost bird (and family) and help Dug the dog escape the jungle and find Paradise Falls.
- Wood Hall: The Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride, scare level 1
Description: Step into a whirlwind of tropical magic where the waves crash, the stars sparkle, and adventure fills the air! Journey through a vibrant island paradise where a mysterious crash-landing sparks an unforgettable tale of friendship. From the moment you enter, you’ll be swept up in glowing lights, crashing surf and the warm spirit of ohana — because here, everyone’s family.
- Grissom Hall: The Addams Residence, scare level 2
Description: Step inside this chilling haunted house experience inspired by a gothic and eerie mansion. This spooky attraction is designed to be creepy and unsettling without gore or blood — perfect for those who love a good scare without the mess! Explore dark hallways and mysterious rooms in an atmosphere filled with suspense and thrills.
- Campbell Hall: The Dead End, scare level 3
Description: There’s a desolate gas station on the edge of nowhere. The neon flickers, the pumps hum, the radio only plays static. Travelers pull in…but not all of them make it back out. Welcome to your last stop before the unknown.
- Evans Hall: The Summoning, scare level 4
Description: Inside our scariest experience, a ritual has begun, and the veil between worlds grows thin. Step inside if you dare, but beware—once The Summoning starts, you may not leave the same.
Treat or Treat is hosted by Florida Tech Student Life and Residence Life. Nearly 60 student resident assistants are involved. They are joined by over 100 student volunteers from Florida Tech Greek life, Student Government, athletics, ROTC and various on-campus clubs and organizations.
Before arriving, adult guests are asked to fill out a brief electronic community member waiver for any minors in their party. Additionally, Treat or Treat requires a simple-to-use haunted house pass system that will keep wait times to no more than 20 minutes while allowing guests to pick times for their visits to each house. Passes can also be acquired at Treat or Treat, but attendees are encouraged to utilize the electronic system ahead of their visit.
Please visit the Treat or Treat website or Facebook page for additional information.
