and Continue Through March 11

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Online registration is now underway for winter art classes and workshops at Florida Institute of Technology’s Renee Foosaner Education Center in the Eau Gallie Arts District of Melbourne.

The new term starts the week of Jan. 17, 2017, and ends March 11. Workshops are two- to three-day sessions while classes run eight weeks.

Workshops include “Bill van Gilder: The Functional Pot: Tips, Tools and Techniques Workshop” Feb. 3-5 and a two-day oil-painting workshop with visiting artist Douglas David called “Paint Dynamic and Exciting Oils with Ease” on March 4-5.

A variety of classes are available for adults and children, including a figure drawing class for kids, beginning, intermediate and advanced pottery for adults, figure sculpture, intermediate watercolor, beginning photography (digital) with Jennifer Glass, and mixed media painting.

Classes are held Monday through Saturday with both day and evening hours. In addition to time spent in class, students are given nine hours of supervised “open studio” time each week to finish projects and further engage in the process.

Pre-registration is required for all classes and workshops, and space is limited. Through Jan. 1, 2017, those who sign up for classes will receive an early-registration discount of 10 percent off member and non-member tuitions. Details, schedules and prices can be found under the “classes” header at www.foosanerartmuseum.org. Online registration is encouraged but registration is also available at the Education Center, 1520 Highland Ave. Office hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday-Friday. The Education Center will be closed for holiday break from Dec. 22-Jan. 2, 2017.
