MELBOURNE, FLA. — Sheila Jordan, a 1989 graduate of Florida Tech and senior vice president and chief digital technology officer at Honeywell, will be the keynote speaker at the spring F. Alan Smith Distinguished Lecture.
The March 2 event is from 5:30-6:45 p.m. at Gleason Performing Arts Center on the Florida Tech campus. The event is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required. Registrants will be able to select whether they will attend in-person or virtually.
Jordan, who earned an MBA at Florida Tech, will speak about, “How to Drive & Influence Digital Transformation.”
“As Honeywell’s senior vice president and chief digital technology officer, Sheila Jordan is the leading force behind the company’s digital transformation,” according to a summary of her presentation. “In this session, she’ll share the key elements to drive digital transformation, as well as insight into what is needed from a technical and mindset perspective to lead and influence.”
At Honeywell, the Charlotte, N.C.-based multinational that primarily operates in four areas of business – aerospace, building technologies, performance materials and technologies, and safety and productivity solutions – Jordan is responsible for all digital transformation efforts across the company, including transformation platform construction and adoption, and delivering value across Enterprise Data activities.
In addition, she has broad oversight and responsibility for IT infrastructure, end-user support, the more than 100 services delivered through applications, and the expansion of software development to support Honeywell’s digital initiatives and go-to-market offerings.
Before Honeywell, Jordan was senior vice president and chief information officer at Symantec, where she was responsible for the company’s IT strategy and operations. Prior to that, she served as senior vice president of communication & collaboration IT at Cisco Systems. Jordan also worked for Walt Disney World, where she was the senior vice president of Destination Disney.
Jordan is the recipient of multiple industry awards and recognitions, including being named one of the 2022 Top 100 Women in Technology by Technology Magazine and a 2019 Women of Influence Award from Silicon Valley Business Journal. She was also recognized as one of the Top 25 Women Leaders in Cybersecurity in 2019 by The Software Report.
She is also the author of You are NOT Ruining Your Kids: A Positive Perspective on the Working Mom.
Jordan holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida in addition to her Florida Tech MBA.
The lecture series’ founder and benefactor is F. Alan Smith, who brought innovation and passion to the business of automobiles. Smith spent more than three decades in leadership positions at General Motors in the U.S. and Canada, including serving as executive vice president of finance of General Motors and president and general manager of General Motors of Canada, Ltd. Smith has served on Florida Tech’s Board of Trustees since 1996.
