Governor Crist Names Frank WebbeTo Alzheimers Advisory Committee

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Frank Webbe, professor of psychology at Florida Institute of Technology, has been appointed by Florida Governor Charlie Crist to the state’s Alzheimer’s Disease Advisory Committee. The term began on June 12 and runs through Feb. 13, 2011.

At the university since 1978, Webbe has established successful research programs both in Alzheimer’s disease and in sport-related concussion. His work with Alzheimer’s disease has emphasized diagnostic issues with patients and the reduction of caregiver stress and burden through in-home assistance. He has published widely on these topics.

A co-founder in 1991 of the East Central Florida Memory Disorder Clinic, Webbe has been active in other community activities, including past service on the board of directors of Crisis Services of Brevard/2-1-1 Brevard and the Haven for Children.

Webbe, a Palm Bay resident, is a past dean of the Florida Tech School of Psychology and past president of the Sport and Exercise Division of the American Psychological Association. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association in the Division of Exercise and Sport Psychology, and a fellow of the National Academy of Neuropsychology. He earned his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Florida in 1974.
