Library Tip Tuesday: Current Events

by Philina Richardson

Every other Tuesday, the Library brings you helpful tips for using your library resources more effectively. This Tuesday, our tip will show you how to search for articles on current events in the library’s collection.

Did you know that you can find current news items in the library’s collection? Using Summon, you can search all of the library’s holdings and databases for information on current events and news. Simply start your search on the homepage:

Once you’ve reached the results page, you can narrow down your search in a few ways. First, modify your results to “Items with full text online” and “Newspaper Article” (as seen below).

Next, you can change your date range to get the most recent publications by scrolling down:

You can change the date using the slider, or by inputting a custom date range.

And that’s how you can research current events using library resources! As always, you can stop by the Service Desk for help with any of our resources. Happy researching!
