Internet, Security Focus of Free Public Lecture Jan. 16

Three Florida Tech Professors to Explore Key Ideas in Presentation

A trio of computer experts from the faculty of Florida Institute of Technology will talk about cyber security at a free public lecture from 7-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16.

Professors Philip Chan, Heather Crawford, and Richard Ford will explore key ideas in the invisible world of computer networking and computer security.

The lecture, “Internet and Security: A Closer Look,” will be held in Olin Engineering Building Auditorium, EC118, on the Florida Tech campus. It is sponsored by the university’s Department of Computer Sciences and Cybersecurity.

The recent cyberattacks on the Sony Corporation illustrate the significance of the Internet and its security to commerce, politics, and nearly every aspect of modern society. The presentation will put that attack in context and explore what it means that the number of mobile devices connected to the Internet exceeds the human population.
