MLK Celebration at Florida Tech Canceled Amid Pandemic
Annual Event and Awards Ceremony Had Been Scheduled for Jan. 11
MELBOURNE, FLA. — Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and with the safety of guests, participants and the community in mind, Florida Tech has announced it has canceled its annual Martin Luther King. Jr commemoration and awards ceremony.
The event was set for Monday, Jan. 11 and was to include the presentation of King’s “I Have a Dream” speech by orator Leonard Ross and the presentation of the university’s Julius Montgomery Pioneer Award and Dr. Harvey L. Riley Bridge Builder Award.
“We will gather together again when it is safe to do so,” said Bino Campanini, senior vice president, student life & alumni affairs. “We look forward to welcoming you again in the future.”
