Student Earns Environmental Studies Fellowship

– Cheryl Lynn Fossani, a Florida Institute of Technology graduate student in coastal zone
management/oceanography
, was awarded a $1,000 Kimley-Horn/Don Beccasio Fellowship. Fossani also earned her bachelor’s degree in oceanography at Florida
Tech. She is from Neptune, N.J.

Transportation planners and traffic operations experts founded the consulting firm of Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. of Raleigh, N.C., in 1967. Don
Beccasio, a long-time employee of Kimley-Horn, promoted the development of consulting expertise in environmental systems. Upon his death, the company
established the fellowship in his name for graduate students pursuing environmental studies who are interested in a career in environmental consulting.

The fellowship is awarded annually. Students applying must submit a one-page essay on the role of environmental consultants in providing optimal solutions
to vital contemporary issues. Selection is based on the essay and the applicant’s academic record.
