University Purchases Naming Rights for
Palm Bay High Facility
MELBOURNE, FLA. – Florida Tech and the School Board of Brevard County announced on Tuesday a naming rights agreement involving Palm Bay Magnet High School’s Pirate Stadium, home to Panther football and lacrosse. The new name of the facility is Florida Tech Panther Stadium.
This agreement is for three years with the option for two additional years. As part of the agreement, stadium signage will be mounted behind the west stands that face Babcock Street, on the front of the press box located at the top of the west stands and the turf at midfield will bear a ‘P’ for the Panthers and Pirates of Palm Bay Magnet High School.
“We’re excited to partner with the School Board of Brevard County in this agreement,” FIT President and CEO Anthony J. Catanese said. “We believe it’s mutually beneficial for the school district, Palm Bay Magnet High School and our athletics program. I think it will further enhance the identities of Florida Tech Football and Florida Tech Lacrosse.”
The Panthers’ football program has played at Palm Bay Magnet High School since its inaugural 2013 season. This spring, the men’s lacrosse team and the first-year women’s lacrosse team played all their home games at the 4,980-seat facility.
“The last two years have been exciting times for Florida Tech with the startup of football and women’s lacrosse,” Athletics Director Bill Jurgens said. “We greatly appreciate the support Florida Tech Athletics has received from the Palm Bay Magnet High School administration in providing a home field for our football and lacrosse teams. This partnership was developed with the intent to enhance those programs and that is exactly what has happened.”
FIT Football will play five home games this fall starting with its season opener on Saturday, Sept 5 at 7 p.m. against Newberry. The Panthers will also host Warner on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m., West Alabama on Oct. 10 at 7 p.m., Shorter on Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. and West Georgia on Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. in their Homecoming Game on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.
Complete spring schedules for men’s and women’s lacrosse will be available online this fall.
