Human-Centered Design Institute at Florida Tech to Hold Open House Feb. 18

KSC Deputy Director Among Speakers

MELBOURNE, FLA. — The Human-Centered Design Institute at Florida Institute of Technology will hold an open house from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18 featuring NASA Kennedy Space Center Deputy Director Janet Petro, tours of cockpit simulators and more.

The two-hour event, at the institute’s offices on the third floor of the Harris Commons building at the intersection of South Babcock Street and University Boulevard, is free and open to the public.

HCDi Director and University Professor Guy André Boy, who will join Petro, Florida Tech Executive Vice President and COO T. Dwayne McCay, and the Attaché for Science and Technology from the Consulate of France in Atlanta, Anne Corval, in offering remarks, said the open house is about highlighting the institute’s capabilities and accomplishments.

“We would like to show industrial companies and government agencies what HCDi is producing in terms of research products,” Boy said. “And we would like to open our doors to potential collaboration with industry, academia and within Florida Tech.”

The institute recently shifted from Florida Tech’s College of Engineering to become a stand-alone research and innovation platform as well as a human-centered design graduate school at the university.

“We look forward to explaining our vision, evolution and future,” Boy said.
