Florida Tech Recognized Among Best in 2021 U.S. News Rankings

MELBOURNE, FLA. — U.S. News & World Report has once again recognized Florida Tech for its educational excellence, ranking the Melbourne university among the best national universities for the 11th consecutive year while spotlighting the particular quality of its engineering and computer science programs.

The magazine’s 2021 Best National Universities ranking assessed 1,452 U.S. bachelor’s degree-granting institutions on 17 measures of academic quality, including graduation and retention rates, faculty resources and peer assessments.

Florida Tech is ranked in the top 14 percent of all national universities, and is the top national university in Florida with a full-time undergraduate population of 5,000 students or fewer.

National universities offer a full range of undergraduate majors, plus master’s and doctoral programs, and emphasize faculty research or award professional practice doctorates.

Florida Tech was third in the nation in percentage of international students—24 percent—among national universities. “In a global culture, befriending and learning to collaborate with students from other countries can be rewarding personally and professionally,” the magazine said.

Additionally, Florida Tech was in the Top 175 nationwide for undergraduate engineering programs and, in a new category for 2021, undergraduate computer science programs.

“Florida Tech is an excellent university that continues to make significant strides,” said President T. Dwayne McCay. “The proof is in our outstanding alumni who are truly leaders in their fields. We look forward to the future.”
