Fabric of Life, Fiesta of Color Opens Sept. 11 at Florida Tech Funk Center

MELBOURNE, FLA.—The Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts at Florida Institute of Technology is preparing for its next exhibit, “FABRIC OF LIFE: Textiles of Latin America,” which debuts Sept. 11 and runs through Dec. 18.

The exhibition will display complex and colorful textiles from Mexico to Brazil.The hand-painted Amazonian weavings, Panamanian molas and indigenous costumes from Ecuador and Guatemala illustrate the vibrant traditions that have survived through centuries of modernization.

Special selections from the Funk Center’s permanent collection will be presented along with objects on loan from private collections.

Regular hours for the Ruth Funk Center are Tuesday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, from noon to 4 p.m. It is located on the Florida Tech campus in Melbourne at 150 W. University Blvd. Admission is free.
