Florida Tech to Host 7th Annual High School Business Ethics Competition

– The Florida Tech School of Management will host its seventh annual high school business ethics competition on Friday, March 7. In the daylong event,
juniors and seniors from Brevard County and other Central Florida high schools compete by developing solutions to thorny ethical problems. More high
schools are welcome to sign up for a chance to win cash prizes.

The competition’s finals will begin at 1 p.m. in the Crawford Building Auditorium, Room S112. Anyone interested in attending may contact the School of

Dr. Tim Hollingsworth, Dean of the School of Management, said the competition gives these students a chance to start thinking about complex choices at an
early stage of professional development. “These students are tasked with a difficult situation that calls for tough, ethical decision making,” he said.
“While it is a competition with awards for the top three teams, the real focus of the day is to stimulate these young minds with a valuable learning
exercise.”

Judges for the competition come from a variety of career fields and include many prominent members of the community.

The event, sponsored by Community Educators’ Credit Union and in conjunction with the J. James Davis Family, offers $500 per member to the first-place
team, $250 per member for the second-place team and $125 per member to the third place team. In addition to student prizes, coaches of all presenting teams
will be awarded $100 per team each to be used in purchasing classroom supplies.
