Falcons Place Second Overall at Regional Flight Competition

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Florida Tech’s Falcons Precision Flight Team returned from the Regional Flight Competition at Auburn University in Alabama with second
place overall. Jacksonville University, Miami Dade College, Auburn University and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University also competed in the week-long
event.
Florida Tech placed second in flight events. Ryan Plumeau earned the number-one spot in the Power-off Precision Landing and the Power-on Precision Landing.
The team will now represent Florida Tech at the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) national flight competition at Ohio State University
next May.
The captain of the Falcons Flight Team is Chris Wiersma and the academic advisor is Dr. Donna Forsyth Wilt. Participating team members were Richard
Alabaugh, John Bureceski, Sean Gavin, Tim Hudson, Nick Mitrani, Will Rae, Jordan Rice , Amanda Smith, , Matt Welch , and Tim Wing.
Aviation-related undergraduate degrees in the Florida Tech College of Aeronautics include bachelor of science degrees. Three of these have a flight option.
The university also offers four master’s degrees and a doctoral degree in science education with a concentration in aeronautics.
