Day of ElderLearning Weather Lectures at Florida Tech Covers Tornadoes, Tsunamis and More
– Brevard ElderLearning presents “Everything You Always Wanted to Know about Violent Weather” on Saturday, Jan. 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Florida Tech.
These presentations, which illustrate why Florida is the country’s most interesting state, meteorologically, will be in the F.W. Olin Engineering
Auditorium.
Florida Tech faculty will offer an in-depth look at tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis and lightning. The experts, Dr. George Maul, head of Florida Tech’s
Department of Marine and Environmental Systems associate professors Dr. Joseph Dwyer and Dr.
Steven Lazarus; and John Williams, author of Florida Hurricanes and Tropical Storms, 1891-2001,” are well-known to readers of Florida Today and other
publications, where they are often quoted.
The cost is $6 and pre-registration is a must. Bringing a brown bag lunch is strongly suggested. The auditorium is located in the F.W. Olin Engineering
Building on University Blvd., between Babcock St. and Country Club Drive.
Florida Tech is sponsoring this Brevard ElderLearning presentation for seniors (55). Brevard ElderLearning is an affiliate of Lifelong Learning Institute
of Elderhostel International, sponsored by Brevard Community College.
