Florida Tech Awards $5,000 Northrop Grumman Scholarship
MELBOURNE, FLA.— Kristie Powell, a Florida Tech senior majoring in electrical engineering, has received a $5,000 scholarship from the College of Engineering through a donation from Northrop Grumman Corporation in Melbourne. Her selection for the award was made by Dr. Fredric Ham, Florida Tech Harris Professor of Electrical Engineering, who conducts research for the company.
“We are very proud of Kristie. She is energetic and hard-working and is an outstanding representation of our department,” said Ham.
Powell is vice president of the student chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and is a test technician and intern at MC Assembly Test Inc. in Palm Bay. She also teaches computer classes for the National Center for Small Business Information, located at Florida Tech.
Powell is from Nassau, Bahamas.
