Mens Basketball Opened Their Pre-Season with an Exhibition against Florida Atlantic University Losing 87-70

BOCA RATON, Fla. (men’s basketball) – The start of Florida Tech’s Men’s Basketball pre-season got underway on Thursday night with an exhibition against the
Owls of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida with an 87-70 defeat.

The start of the game showed a bright promise for the Tech program as they held the lead against the Owls with just over five minutes to play in the half.
The Owls regaining momentum after a media timeout retook the lead going into half time 39-36. The Panthers hard noised defense held the Owls to a first
half shooting percentage of 35.5% from the field and caused 11 turnovers.

In the second started off with the two teams seesawing leads but the Owls regained the lead 44-42 and never look back. The Owls went on a 12-0 run before
Tech could answer back pushing their lead to 13 points.

Tech made a run at the halfway mark of the second half cutting the deficit to nine but couldn’t climb out of the hole. Late in the second half Florida
Atlantic pushed their lead 20 points and took the game by 17 points with a final score of 87-70.

The crimson and grey showed some good signs for the upcoming season in their pre-season opener against the Owls but couldn’t pull it together for the
entire game. Individual highlights for the Panthers were shown from two new comers to the program with Carl McNally (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) leading the team
with 16 points while Justin Sedlak (Pezinik, Slovakia) added 15 points. Sedlak also grabbed eight rebounds to lead the team.

The Panthers host Acadia University on their home court in the Clemente Center on Saturday, November 4th at 2:30 pm for their pre-season exhibition home
opener.
