Florida Techs Sullivan Named Life Member of Engineering Institute

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Tech’s head of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Professor Robert L. Sullivan, has been named a Life Member of
the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). The distinguished status is reserved for those with a long association with the IEEE.
Sullivan has been an IEEE member since 1967. Since then, he has fulfilled many roles for the organization, including president of the IEEE Education
Society, member of the Technical Activities Board, member of the Educational Activities Board and member of the Power Engineering Society. He was also
awarded the prestigious IEEE Fellow designation in 1994 for “Contributions to electrical engineering education and leadership in organizations devoted to
electrical engineering education.” He received the IEEE Third Millennium Medal in 2000 for “Outstanding achievements and contributions to IEEE.”
He is the author of several books on electrical engineering and has published numerous professional papers on power systems and other electrical
engineering topics. He earned bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Florida.
