Florida Tech Information Assurance Meeting: Current Trends in Cyber Crimes and the FBI on Sept. 16

MELBOURNE, FLA.—The Harris Institute for Assured Information at Florida Institute of Technology and the Space Coast Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) present a monthly lecture series on security trends and topics. This month’s meeting, which is free and open to the public, is scheduled for September 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the third-floor conference room of the Harris Center for Science and Engineering on the Florida Tech campus.

In this meeting the Institute will host Special Agent Bill Tidwell, who will be speaking on “Current Trends in Cyber Crimes and the FBI.”

Richard Ford, director of the Harris Institute commented, “We’re delighted to have Special Agent Tidwell speaking this month. The FBI has extensive experience in dealing with cybercrime, and the community as a whole has considerable respect for their efforts. This talk should provide an interesting perspective on what dangers exist online—something we should all be more aware of.”

Tidwell is a special agent with the FBI Tampa Division, Brevard Resident Agency. He has worked in information technology for approximately 12 years and is assigned to computer intrusion investigations.
