Noted Speech Recognition Expert to Lecture at Florida Tech

– Florida Tech’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering presents a lecture by Dr. Hervé Bourlard, a leading
researcher in speech recognition, image understanding and machine learning. He will lecture on April 4, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the F.W. Olin Engineering
complex auditorium, Room 118.

The presentation, “Multi-channel hierarchical modeling with applications in speech and multimodal processing,” is free and open to the public.

Bourlard is director of the IDIAP Research Institute, a semi-private, non-profit organization, located in Martigny, Valais, Switzerland, and a full
professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology at Lausanne, Switzerland. He is also an External Fellow and member of the Board of Trustees of the
International Computer Science Institute (ICSI) in Berkeley, Calif.
