MELBOURNE, FLA. — Chang Wen Chen, Florida Tech’s Allen S. Henry Endowed Chair Professor and director of the university’s Wireless Center of Excellence, was
named a fellow of the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE). He earned the honor for his outstanding achievements in emerging research areas
in electronic imaging and visual communications.
Chen was one of 56 new fellows honored in 2007. All were selected for their significant scientific and technical contributions in the multidisciplinary
fields of optics, photonics and imaging. Chen and 11 other new SPIE fellows were honored at the SPIE Defense and Security Symposium Award Banquet in April
in Orlando, Fla. About 480 SPIE members have become fellows since the society’s inception in 1955.
The SPIE is a not-for-profit society for the exchange, collection and dissemination of knowledge in optics, photonics and imaging.
