Dolphins Sink Panthers 89-60 in Men’s Basketball

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (men’s basketball) — Panthers freshman forward Justin Sedlak (Pezinick, Slovakia) out-scored and out-rebounded all players today despite
Florida Tech falling 89-60 against NCAA Division I opponent Jacksonville University (2-2) at the Veteran’s Memorial Arena.

Coming off the bench for Tech, Sedlak finished the contest with the game-high 21 points and nine rebounds this afternoon. Sedlak went 7-for-13 from the
field and 3-for-7 from the three-point range. He was also responsible for many of the second chance shots taken by Tech leading all players with five
offensive boards.

The Panthers were once again without starting point-guard EJ Murray (Rockledge, Fla.) due to a knee injury sustained after their season opener at Bethune
Cookman. Tech just couldn’t seem to pull together and play their game today with Coach Mims sitting his entire starting line-up during most of the second
half.

Junior newcomer Arthur Richardson (Niceville, Fla.) was the only other crimson and gray member to score in the double figures, leading Tech in the first
half, finishing with 13 points. Fellow junior starter Jod Kelley (McCormick, S.C.) notched a game high five blocks for the contest chipping in six boards.

“Justin Sedlak and Arthur Richardson seemed to be the only players out there that were not getting pushed around by Jacksonville…Sedlak, a freshman, came
off the bench and was the only one who played a tough game offensively and defensively,” stated Mims.

Mims cleared the bench after about ten minutes into the second half disappointed by the lack of play on his starting five.

Five different Dolphins tallied double digits for the afternoon match-up. Freshman Tyrone Curnell (Ocoee, Fla.) and junior Evan Jefferson (Pensacola, Fla.)
each notched 18 points coming off the bench. Curnell with eight boards and Evans going 4-for-6 from the three-point perimeter.

Freshman guard Ben Smith (Dublin, Ga.) grabbed the only double double for the game with ten assists and 12 points. Sophomore forward Marcus Allen
(Hollywood, Fla.) added 15 points while Dolphin’s top scorer senior Jesse Kimbrough (Mexia, Tex.) had 12 points.

The Panthers fall to 1-2 on the season and will be back in action on Friday, November 24th traveling to Orlando to take on another DI opponent Central
Florida at a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
