Alumnus Establishes Scholarship Fund for Mechanical Engineering Students in Need
Sujit Jain ’83 and his Wife Nidhi Recently Formed The Sujit and Nidhi Jain Charitable Foundation
MELBOURNE, FLA. — The Sujit and Nidhi Jain Charitable Foundation has established the Sujit and Nidhi Jain Scholarship Fund at Florida Tech to assist mechanical engineering students with financial support.
The gift is the first from the Jains’ newly formed foundation.
“Nidhi and I plan to assist causes important to us,” Jain said. “Florida Tech is where the foundation for my career was laid. Thus, we want to make it our first gift. We are honored to establish this scholarship to assist mechanical engineering students who may require financial assistance to continue their education.”
Sujit Jain earned his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Florida Tech in 1983. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology in Nagpur, India.
After graduating from Florida Tech, Jain began his career in the automotive industry with TI Automotive. In 2000, he was named Vice President of the Powertrain Division at Robert Bosch NA, and he is now President, Powertrain Solutions – Passenger Cars, Commercial & Off-Road, and Electric Vehicles.
The endowed scholarship will be awarded starting this fall and subsequently awarded annually to a mechanical engineering student displaying financial need.
“We are always so pleased and impressed by the generosity of our alumni,” said Gary Grant, senior vice president for development. “The Jains are a great example of the positive impact Florida Tech can have on its students and how those students can go on to be successful professionals who desire to give back.”
