Panthers Unite! Florida Tech to Hold 7th Annual Day of Giving on Tuesday

24-Hour Event Seeks Alumni Gifts of All Sizes

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Tech will hold its 7th annual Day of Giving starting at midnight Tuesday, Nov. 9, giving Panthers from around the world the chance to support their alma mater.

With the slogan ‘Our University. Our Future. Come to Play on Giving Day!’ Florida Tech’s Day of Giving will include several unique events such as Family Feud with a university twist, the 2nd Annual Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament, and a Rocket League tournament. The day will feature a 24-hour live stream located at the university’s new Esports Center that will be available at dayofgiving.fit.edu starting at midnight on Nov. 9.

The Day of Giving website will include a tally with a live leaderboard showing real-time dollars and donors for each participating college, team and unit, as well as overall totals. The Florida Tech Alumni Association Facebook page will also be active with donor challenges, updates and live videos from celebrations around campus.

The money raised through Day of Giving will support Florida Tech’s greatest needs, including financial aid, research and student activities.

The importance of participation goes beyond money raised. No matter the size of individual donations, the level of alumni participation overall is a key factor in how organizations, including the influential ranking publication U.S. News and World Report, perceive the success of a university – and how they rank it.

In addition to the colleges, the university’s athletic teams, the Alumni Association, the Joy and Gordon Botanical Garden, Catholic Campus Ministry, Student Life, Evans Library, the Scott Center for Autism Treatment, weVENTURE and WFIT-FM 89.5 are participating.

A new addition this year is the chance for one donor and one “ambassador,” having donated a minimum of $10, to win a weeklong trip to Jamaica. Ambassadors are an important part of Day of Giving because they share the excitement of the day. To be an ambassador, make a gift to Florida Tech and then find the referral link at the bottom of your email receipt. Share that link via email, social media and text, and when someone clicks on your link, it will lead them to the Day of Giving page. If they donate, we will be able to see that this individual gave because of your participation. That will get your name entered into a second drawing for the Jamaica trip.
