A fall fundraiser to support children in need by Florida Tech’s chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi was recognized with a gold award as one of the top community efforts nationwide.
The Fall Service Project is an initiative of PKP’s national Council of Students that encourages all Phi Kappa Phi chapters to participate in the planning and execution of a local service project focusing on a specific need in their community or on their campus.
Florida Tech’s project centered on raising money for the Children’s Hunger Project, the cherished program in Brevard County that ensures elementary school-aged children don’t go hungry on weekends and during school breaks.
Meredith College, Texas A+M University, University of Tampa and Youngstown State University were the other gold winners. Another nine projects received silver and bronze awards.
“Phi Kappa Phi would like to thank all of the chapters who participated in the Fall Service Project and offer a congratulations to all of the winners. It is in these small moments that ‘we serve our mission, our communities, and our world through all of our programs,’” the Society said in announcing the winners.
