Carey Gleason Named Chair of Leadership Florida Region

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Carey Gleason, Florida Tech associate provost for external relations, has been named chair of the East Central Region of Leadership Florida, which comprises more than 160 members from Orange, Brevard, Lake, Sumter, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia counties. She graduated from the nine-month Leadership Florida program in May 2005.

Serving with Gleason on the Leadership Florida Council of Advisors from the East Central Region is Jeff Nash, vice president, CH2M Hill, a worldwide engineering, consulting and construction business; Brian Butler, president and CEO of JCB Construction; and Christopher Carlyle, attorney and owner of the Carlyle Appellate Law Firm, based in The Villages, Fla.

Created in 1982 by the Florida Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Florida works to build a sense of statewide community by identifying and training individuals to build a strong, diverse network of leaders. These leaders share a commitment to connect communities and to make Florida a better place in which to live and prosper.

Participants study economics, social history, environmental issues and personal leadership. The training sessions are scheduled throughout the state.
