WFIT 89.5 FM to Conclude Fall Fund Drive Oct. 10

MELBOURNE, FLA.—WFIT 89.5 FM, a service of Florida Institute of Technology, will wrap up its fall fund drive Oct. 10. WFIT’s goal this fall is $50,000.

A noncommercial, public radio station, WFIT obtains funding for operations and equipment from individual listener gifts, local business support, grants and special fund raising events. Continued community and grant support is all the more critical for WFIT to maintain and improve its service to its listening area especially in the wake of the elimination of state funding for Florida public radio this year.

“The task of fundraising is an ongoing reality for non-commercial public broadcasters and WFIT is deeply appreciative for the outpouring of community support especially at this challenging time,” said Terri Wright, WFIT general manager.

A variety of unique, fun and special premiums are being offered as thank you gifts to supporters who called and pledged during the fund drive.

“WFIT’s mission is to serve the local community. As electronic and print media continue to consolidate and become more commercial in nature, WFIT’s service as an independent voice and local resource is increasingly valuable to the people and organizations it serves,” said Terri Wright, WFIT general manager.
