Florida Tech Doctoral Student Elected to Lead Psychological Association

– Kristi Van Sickle, a clinical psychology doctoral student at Florida Institute of Technology, has been named chair-elect of the American Psychological
Association of Graduate Students (APAGS). Van Sickle, of Satellite Beach, Fla., will soon leave the area for herpre-doctoral internship at the James A.
Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa. She will serve a threeyear term with APAGS as chair-elect, chair and finally, past-chair, for a year each.

The APAGS is the largest organization for graduate psychology students worldwide. Founded in 1988, APAGS has several thousand members, making it one of the
largest constituency groups within the American Psychological Association.

This spring, Van Sickle received the Florida Tech School of Psychology Outstanding PsyD. Student Award. “She
is well known for her enthusiasm and excellence in her academic and clinical work,” said Dr. Mary Beth Kenkel, dean and professor of the school.
