Take Mom on a Culinary Journey with Florida Tech’s Brunch Around the World

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Institute of Technology is giving Mother’s Day brunch some international flair with its 2nd annual Mother’s Day Brunch Around the World.

The brunch event offered under the university’s innovative and popular International Dining Series runs from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 14, at Panther Dining Hall. It will feature dishes from more than eight countries and regions, as well as traditional breakfast items including eggs, bacon, pancakes and omelets to order, as well as salads, desserts both foreign and domestic, and beverages.

The cost is $16 per person.

International dishes will include fattoush, the Lebanese pita bread salad with romaine lettuce, cucumber, tomato and lemon dressing; cucumber chili salad from Cuba; Caribbean oxtail stew; Guang Dong-style snapper from China, with the fish steamed with garlic, ginger, cilantro, soy and sesame oil; India’s chicken tikka masala, with its grilled chunks of chicken in creamy tomato sauce spiced with yogurt, lemon, onion, ginger, nutmeg, cardamom, coriander and cumin; and African-style vegan stew, with sweet potato, cabbage, onion, tomato with ginger and peanut.

Desserts include crepes, baklava, cannoli, assorted fruit pies, cream pie, cake and cookies.

Panther Dining Hall, 3113 Panther Place, is just south of the Clemente Center on the Florida Tech campus in Melbourne. Visitor parking is free on the first floor of the parking garage behind the dining hall.
