Florida Tech Womens Business Center to Offer Fundraising Strategies Workshop Sept. 9

MELBOURNE, FLA.—The Florida Institute of Technology Women’s Business Center (WBC) will offer a workshop, “Diversifying Your Fundraising Strategies,” on Sept. 9. The workshop will be held on campus at the Academic Quad, Building 413, Room Q-118, from 9 a.m.-noon.

Successful fundraising begins with a firm plan. This workshop stresses the need for a diversified approach to fundraising, which will help maintain and sustain your organization. Participants will learn why nonprofit organizations need to diversify their fundraising, how to analyze an existing revenue profile, how to write a case statement, how to create a plan to diversify fundraising partners and vehicles, and how to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the fundraising plan.

Lee Bailey will teach the workshop. Her 30-year career, spent in the nonprofit and educational sectors, has yielded her more than $75 million in competitive grants. She served as an executive director for several social service and art organizations and was responsible for resource development in various educational settings. She recently retired from the Philanthropy Center at Rollins College where she developed curriculum, was responsible for proposal writing and instructed fund development and proposal writing for the nonprofit community.

Bailey earned her bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the University of New Mexico and her master’s degree in liberal studies from Rollins College. She also received educational credentials from the University of Alabama and certificates from the University of Detroit’s Grantsmanship Center, Nonprofit/Public Administration Management.

The cost for the workshop is $30. Participants can earn three Certified Fund Raising Executive or CFRE points.
