The Scott Center for Autism Treatment Welcomes New Medical Director
MELBOURNE, FLA.—The Scott Center for Autism Treatment, Florida Institute of Technology, recently named Dr. Steve Badolato as its new medical director. Badolato is a family physician and sports medicine specialist and cares for a handful of autistic children in his practice. He served as the medical director for the IMG/Bollettieri Sports Academy in Bradenton, Fla., before opening his private practice, Badolato Family Health/Premier Sports Medicine, in Melbourne.
Currently the team physician for the Brevard County Manatees, a Milwaukee Brewers organization, Badolato provided medical care for retired NFL players in the NFL Gridiron Greats Medical Program. He was appointed by the Senate of the State of Florida to the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Medicaid Board and by the Florida Governor’s Office to continue to serve AHCA at the state level.
“We are so pleased to have Dr. Badolato join the Scott Center for Autism Treatment in the role of medical director,” said Scott Center Executive Director Michael E. Kelley, Florida Tech School of Psychology associate professor. “We view his addition to our team as another step in our strategy to serve as many children as possible who are diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities. His expertise will be particularly useful as we continue to build our Pediatric Feeding Disorders and Severe Behavior Disorders Programs.”
Badolato has a special interest in helping children on local and international levels. He has contributed resources to the Space Coast Early Intervention Center and Club Esteem in Melbourne. Through his work with Ruuska Village orphanage in Haiti and his many medical mission trips to Haiti, Nicaragua and Honduras, he has provided critical medical care for thousands of needy children. For his philanthropic work, Badolato received the Space Coast Humanitarian Award and the Harold S. Strasser Good Samaritan Award from the Florida Medical Association.
The Scott Center for Autism Treatment specializes in working with children with autism and other related disorders by implementing procedures based on the science of applied behavior analysis. Experts are available in the areas of assessment and treatment of challenging behaviors, early intervention, specialized toilet training, pediatric feeding and parent/teacher guidance.
