AAUW Presents Florida Tech Award to Graduating Senior

– The American Association of University Women (AAUW), Melbourne Branch, presented the organization’s Academic Award for Excellence for Women to Florida
Tech graduating senior Pamela Rodriguez. From Colombia, South America, Rodriguez is a dual major in research chemistry and biochemistry. Honored for her
academic excellence, she has maintained a 4.0 grade point average (GPA), the highest possible.

Rodriguez, a distinguished Student Scholar, was also named an Outstanding Senior in the Department of Biological
Sciences
for 2004-2005 and is president of the American Chemical Society student affiliates at Florida Tech.

In fall 2005, Rodriquez will begin a doctoral program in chemistry at Columbia University.

Janice Teegen, Florida Tech instructor of humanities and communication, and the Florida Tech AAUW representative, presented the award.

Founded in 1881, AAUW is committed to education and equity for all women and girls. The organization, including the Melbourne branch, is open to all
graduates who hold a bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university. The AAUW, through its Educational Foundation, provides over $4
million annually in scholarships and fellowships to support women in graduate school and in research.
