’37 Hours of Giving’ Coming to Florida Tech Nov. 8-9
Unique Event Seeks Alumni Gifts of All Sizes
MELBOURNE, FLA. — A 37-cent donation helped spur the founding of Florida Tech in 1958. A 37-hour special event will help it continue to flourish.
Supercharging the annual Day of Giving, Florida Tech is excited to announce 37 Hours of Giving. The festivities start at 11 a.m. on Nov. 8 and go until midnight on Nov. 9.
“Your support of Florida Tech has a tremendous impact on our community and the opportunities we provide to our students,” President John Nicklow said in a video message ahead of the event. “So let’s come together, have fun and make a difference.”
A livestream will kick off at 11 a.m. from the Folliard Alumni Center on campus and run through the entire event at dayofgiving.fit.edu. The broadcast will feature President John Nicklow interviewing university historian Gordon Patterson in honor of Florida Tech’s 65th anniversary, as well as other interviews with deans and students.
The livestream will also carry a chess tournament, a rock-paper-scissors championship battle and a “Cash Cab”-style trivia game.
The 37 Hours of Giving website will include a tally with a live leaderboard showing real-time dollars and donors for each of the university’s four colleges, as well as team and unit totals and overall totals. The Florida Tech Alumni Association Facebook page will also be active with donor challenges, updates and live videos from around campus.
But the focus is rightfully on the generosity of our worldwide Panther family.
There will be over 200 giving options for giving so donors can direct their gift to their passions and favorites. One popular recipient is the Panther Fund, which supports Florida Tech’s greatest needs, including financial aid, research and student activities.
