Doescher Named to Cross Country All-Academic American

(Men’s Cross Country)–Florida Tech senior runner Jared Doescher (Hillsboro, Oregon) becomes Tech’s
first ever Men’s Cross Country runner to be named to the DII All Academic Team sponsored by US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Doescher finished off his career this season as the Panthers top runner with a .699 winning percentage placing in the top 25 of six of his eight races and
had three top ten finishes with his best with a career best 5K at 27:20, career best 8K at 27:20 and a career best 10K at 35:16. He is a mechanical
engineering major at Florida Tech. Doescher is a three time SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll Member, three time Florida Tech Scholar Athlete and was named SSC
Runner of the Week in 2005.

Western State standout Kim Hogarth, a 4.0 student who finished fifth at nationals, is the NCAA Division II All-Academic Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the
Year.

Hogarth, a sophomore from Nelson, New Zealand, is one of 111 male student-athletes to earn Division II Cross Country All-Academic Awards, the U.S. Track
and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced today.

With a cumulative team GPA of 3.347, Western State was earlier named the Division II All-Academic Men’s Cross Country Team of the Year. The All-Academic
Men’s Cross Country Teams are posted online at www.ustfccca.org .

The Mountaineers finished third at the 2006 NCAA Division II Men’s Cross Country Championships. Three Western State runners – Hogarth, Andrew Hoffman and
Scott Dahlberg – earned All-Academic individual honors.

Julius Nyango of Abilene Christian earned All-Academic honors. Nyarngo finished eighth at the NCAA Division II Men’s Cross Country Championships, helping
the Wildcats win their first NCAA team title in cross country. 

Adams State, the NCAA runner-up, had two runners earn All-Academic honors: Aaron Braun and Jesus Solis.

To qualifying for Division II All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 (on 4.0 scale) and finish
in the top 30 at the regional cross country championships.
