Florida Tech Public Science Lecture Explores the Age of the Universe Aug. 23

MELBOURNE, FLA.—The next free Public Science Lecture Series presentation at Florida Institute of Technology will be given by Dan Batcheldor, assistant professor of physics and space sciences, Aug. 23 at 8 p.m. in the F.W. Olin Engineering Complex, Room EC118, on campus. There will be a rooftop public star viewing following the presentation if weather permits.

Batcheldor will discuss how we know that the universe is 13.8 billion years old. He will lead the audience through the vast observational evidence that establishes that we live in an almost unimaginably old universe. Professor Batcheldor will also share surprising results, released earlier this year from the Planck spacecraft.

The F.W. Olin Engineering Complex is located on West University Boulevard. For more information, call (321) 674-7207or visit www.fit.edu/aapls.
