Surf Team Heads to Nationals in California

  Florida Institute of Technology’s surf team is headed to the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) National Interscholastic College Championships June 16-18 in Dana Point, Calif. Last year the team finished eighth overall in the competition and two team members, Sebastian Moreno and Justin Ellingham, made the semifinals.

The two are on the team again this year. Other team members are Billy Scott, Aaron Privett, Ashley Privett, Alex Ferencz, Pat Brennan, Frankie Brown and Will Cole (longboard).

Florida Tech qualified for the national contest after doing well in the NSSA East Coast Championships in April. The link to the competition is http://nssa.org.

The National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to encourage and assist its members in their interest to learn and develop the fundamentals and skills of surfing competition while competing in structured and quality events. The NSSA promotes the qualities of discipline and competitive excellence while supporting the merits of academic achievement to young surfers. The NSSA strives to provide a fun surfing experience for all of its members.
