Explore the Possibilities During Exploration Day: August 25, 2017

Are you a fit for FIT? Come explore if Florida Institute of Technology is where you belong by attending our next Exploration Day on Friday, August 25. The event will include admission and financial aid presentations, campus tours, department meetings, a campus tour, lunch with students and academic department meetings.

Blast off!

Situated on the Space Coast, the site of Kennedy Space Center and NASA shuttle launches, the campus is also mere minutes from the beach. While you’re here, you may even get to see a rocket up close. An Orbital ATK Minotaur rocket is tentatively scheduled for launch August 25.

During the day, you may have the opportunity to hear Daniel Batcheldor, Florida Tech’s Department Head of Physics and Space Sciences, talk about colonizing Mars – or the experiment he has aboard the space station.

You can also visit the 11,500-square-foot Harris Student Design Center, a workshop for student projects where a new generation of designers and leaders benefit from Florida Tech’s long-term investment in improving student experiences in their capstone projects, team interactions and overall exposure to the innovation, design and execution of their ideas.

What’s the Buzz?

Did you know that Buzz Aldrin is part of our faculty? The Buzz Aldrin Space Institute is at the forefront of promoting the settlement of Mars through research.

Explore the future on Exploration Day

Exploration Day gives prospective students and their families a chance to check out all that Florida Tech has to offer. Students have the opportunity to speak to professors about their major, take a campus tour led by current students, explore student organizations, learn more about extracurricular activities, attend a financial aid presentation and speak to an admissions counselor.

Adrienne Foltz, Assistant Director for Undergraduate Admissions, is at the helm of organizing every Exploration Day at FIT.

“It is the perfect opportunity for students to learn more about all the different aspects of Florida Tech,” Foltz said. “For instance, if a student is debating between majoring in two different areas, they have a chance to talk to each department and ask all the questions that will assist in making a decision that fits best for them.”

It’s also a great opportunity to have a meal in our world-class Panther Dining Hall with an out of this world menu that includes a variety of international fair like Spicy Tofu Stir Fry, Caribbean Roasted Chicken Breast, and Pierogis with Caramelized Onions.

Exploration Day

“For some, the highlight may be seeing senior design projects, for another it might be the admission/financial aid overview. For some, it’s definitely the chance to eat at Panther Dining Hall,” Foltz said. “They have a chance to interact with current students to get a feel for student life on campus. It’s all about fit. You won’t know if you belong at FIT until you visit FIT.”

The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the registration period closes Wednesday, August 23.
